The goal of the work seen above was to experiment with different techniques or software. I try to set aside some personal time thats dedicated to learning new things and exercising creativity. This process is a good remedy for the occasional burn out I experience after long projects.

My first job coming out of school was designing for a printing company that specialized in lenticular arrays. My job was to create and reformat client designs for our unique print production process.
In my time here, I got very familiar with the printing process. So naturally, I experimented in my down time and discovered techniques to adjust focal length, clarity, scale, and movement. Our ability to adjust these components expanded the variety and application of this printing method.
I turned these abstract patterns into templates for the other designers. Implementing these templates was actually faster than out normal workflow because clients would usually ask for custom patterns but if they chose one of the effects we could just use the template.
The most popular technique was this motion blur effect.
